The festival celebrates the works of Native American filmmakers, with all films written, produced, and/or directed by Native artists from across North and South America.
The films explore subjects including traditions and folklore, stories from contemporary Native people, stereotypes and prejudices, and the Standing Rock Sioux Nation’s struggle to protect their water rights.
On the Table Talk: Sustaining Culture in a Multicultural World
Tuesday, May 16, 2017
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
How does the bombardment of multiple cultures change your own culture, as well as what culture you will pass down to your children and hope they pass to theirs?
Join us for a brownbag lunch, led by executive director Kathleen McDonald, that will ask participants to share their cultural journey, the impact of mixed culture marriages, how they justify their choices to maintain one cultural practice over another, and how they describe and value other cultures from surrounding and far-away places.
For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (847) 475-1030.
