Maria brings her experiences growing up on her reservation and as a teacher to tell engaging and captivating stories that share important messages of empathy. Her writing gives the reader a better understanding of not just Maria’s upbringing but helps to build a bridge for any reader of any age to appreciate Indigenous cultures.

Indigenous Spoken Word and Song

We had the pleasure of working with the Goodman Theatre on an evening performance to demonstrate Chicagoland’s Indigenous community’s diversity of talent. The evening was curated by Vince Romero (Pueblo Laguna) and featured William Buchholtz (Algonquin, Metis), Mark Jourdan (Oneida/Ho-Chunk), Mark LaRoqe (White Earth Band of Ojibwe), Lanialoha Lee (Native Hawaiian), Niyol Spencer (Mississippi Chata/Diné), and Jennifer Stevens (Oneida/Oglala Lakota).
