Tours and Events

We are now offering visitors the option to schedule two-hour private, onsite tours starting on February 1, 2022. Guests can discover the museum with a self-guided or docent-led tour from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For the safety of our guests and staff, the Mitchell Museum can accommodate private tours for classes or groups ranging from 10-25 people. Reservations must be made in advance with a $25 deposit due upon booking. As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, we may postpone or cancel tours due to rising numbers.

Virtual tours is the alternative to in-person field trips and brings our permanent exhibit, “A Regional Tour of American Indian Cultures,” to your classroom or home. Our 30-minute virtual field trip led by the Mitchell Museum’s expert guides will take you through the major regions (Woodlands, Plains, Southwest, Northwest Coast/California, and Arctic/Subarctic) of the United States and Canada. Throughout each region, you will experience and learn about the housing, transportation, food, clothing, art, and cultures of the tribal nations who lived there.
